Mustang flexes its muscle in Newcastle

Dr Paul Ramkissoon recently became the proud owner of the first Ford 2.3 Ecoboost Auto Mustang Fastback introduced in Newcastle.

It’s what all Ford fanatics have anticipated since the announcement in 2013.

The Ford 2.3 Ecoboost Auto Mustang Fastback finally made its appearance in Newcastle, at the Fedauto Centre in Allen Street.

Dealer principal, Nagesh Govender, said: “There are only five models available in Newcastle, and a limited 900 touched the shores of South Africa.”

Dr Paul Ramkissoon was one of the lucky few to be the owner of the first Ford Mustang in Newcastle.

“It has always been a dream of mine to own a Mustang, especially after seeing the classic 1968 Mustang in the famous movie, Bullitt featuring Steve McQueen,” said an excited Dr Ramkissoon.

Built in Michigan, a state in America, this iconic car was manufactured with the concept of the classic 1968-67 Mustang in mind.

With an estimated 3 000 appearances in movies and on television, Mustang is believed to be the most widely featured car on the big screen.

Although equipped with all the modern-day techno gadgets and devices, such as a reverse camera, WiFi hot spot and a track, sport and comfort transmission, this monster of a machine does not deviate much from its parent.

“When I sit in the driver seat it feels like I am in a cockpit,” relayed Dr Ramkissoon.

“Since it’s Ford’s 50th anniversary, and coincidentally I turn 50 years old this year, I thought it would be a nice gift to myself,” he beamed.
