Q: Good day, sir. Thank you very much for the huge difference that you have already made in our town. A concern I have, however, is the open park in Arbor Park, next to the swimming pool and Community Centre. I live in Tambotie street, and my wife works night shift at the hospital. During most of the days, especially over the weekends, people gather in the park to braai, drink, etc. and they make a lot of noise. The music is played at full volume. My wife struggles to get some sleep, coming off night shift. Other residents in the area have the same problem. There are areas, outside of residential areas, where people can go and enjoy themselves. The open park across the road from the farmers hall comes to mind. It would be greatly appreciated if you could help. Thank you.

A: Unfortunately people have the right to use public open spaces. I will however ask the department to enforce the sound bylaws.

Q: Honourable Mayor, Good morning. My name is Gugu Hendry Thwala, I studied Management Assistant and Makerting Management at Majuba TVET College. I wish to ask you (sir) a question , regarding the employment process of Newcastle Municipality. The reason why I’m asking this question is because the new Municipal Building is almost complete and I need to know if there will the be any job openings and how many people will be needed in your Administration Department, example: receptionists, asset clerks, human resources clerks, fleet clerks, stores assistants, warehouse administrators, personal assistants, etc. When will the Municipality start advertising posts if there are any? Will they advertise the posts in the Newcastle Advertiser or in the notice board at the Nedbank building for the public at large? I hope my request will receive the desired attention.

A: We advertise job openings as and when we require it.
