What plans are in place in case the drought gets worse?

Mr Mayor all the best wishes for 2016 to you and yours. May this year be the best ever for Newcastle! Please can you let us know what big projects the municipality has lined up for the year and what we as the community can look forward to?

Please keep an eye out for the advert inviting the community of NN to the budget and state of the town address in March.

NNmayor: Sir, happy 2016 to you. I wanted to ask you about the possibility of putting up cctv cameras in locations such as next to the paradise temple, where often contractors come and dump rubble and garden refuse, This eventually ends up in the river which I don’t need to tell you, is already quite bad. All your efforts to clean up the river will be for nought if nothing is done about the dumping problem. Yes I have tried to get hold of the ward councillor who does not answer the phone. Mr Naicker

I want to remove the bins from the area. CCTV cameras will only be a deterrent but not resolve the problem.

Mayor can you please tell the community what plans the municipality has in place in case the drought gets worse. Farmers in the area will be hit the hardest and would appreciate support from local government.

We have rolled out numerous boreholes already and still drilling. Farmers will get support from provincial governments, as they already have a programme in place. We are part of a disaster team that is constantly monitoring the situation throughout the district and province. Our district municipality is playing a big role in this regard.
