The township touch of art

Previous festivals transformed township homes into art galleries and creative platforms.

The Newcastle Townships Art Festival returns in October.

The annual art exhibition, hosted by the Newcastle Creative Network, will transform the township area into an art gallery and creative space for three days in October.

Expect an experience appealing to all the senses.

Hosted in Section 5, next to Hlahlanathi High School, festival attendees can look forward to fashion shows, performances, music, food, theatre productions, discussions, workshops and craft exhibitions.

Across October 23, 24 and 25, the action is between 11am and 8pm daily.

The Creative Network thanks everyone who has supported this annual event, which is hosted this year in conjunction with the Department of Arts and Culture, Newcastle Municipality, Business and Arts South Africa (BASA), the Newcastle Advertiser and British Council’s Connect ZA programme.

Be sure not to miss out on this sensory journey!
