October 5 to 7 – Jehovah’s Witnesses from Newcastle, Standerton, Ermelo, Piet Retief, Volksrust and surrounding areas will host a three-day Regional Convention at Volksrust High School’s Sports Grounds.
The theme for the year is Be Courageous and proceedings will be conducted in IsiZulu.
An estimated 5 000 Jehovah’s Witnesses are expected at this event, which forms part of a series of conventions held in many languages and in 180 venues both locally and internationally.
Each delegate has invited members of the public to attend the convention at no cost.
The three-day programme at Volksrust High School will comprise 54 presentations, including talks, audio dramas, interviews, short stories, with morning and afternoon sessions each day introduced by specially prepared music videos.
On the convention’s final day, a feature film entitled The Story of Jonah – A Lesson in Courage and Mercy will be played.
Zwelisha Mhlophe, programme director for the Volksrust convention, said that by watching the news in today’s day and age, it was clear more and more people of all ages were suffering with anxiety, even more so than in past times.
“It takes courage to face these pressures. We welcome everyone to this year’s convention to benefit from the practical advice which is contained in the Bible.”
The convention will begin at 9am and finish 5pm each day, and will wrap up on Sunday at 4pm.
Admission is free and no collections will be taken.
