On Saturday, February 3, approximately 200 running enthusiasts gathered for the weekly parkrun at Grey Goose.

The weather was perfect as the runners, who were in high spirits, anticipated the five kilometre race.

Families and friends from all over Newcastle converged at the starting line to compete in a friendly race. Some attendees raced against the stopwatch to improve on their personal best time, and others ran to reach the coveted 100th parkrun.

According to the race volunteers at Grey Goose, the race was a success and the number of participants grew weekly.

“It is really a fun way to stay in shape. There are people who run with their pets, families that run together and even people as old as 80 who participate.”

Be sure to register for the parkrun at, and join in the fun next Saturday.
