Robberies on the rise in the CBD

Newcastle SAPS are currently investigating three cases of robbery.

The first incident took place on October 26, when a man snatched a cellphone from an unsuspecting victim on Kirkland Street and ran off with it.

However, with the assistance of community members, the suspect was apprehended.

The second incident took place on October 28, when a man was accosted by five men on Terminus Street.

The suspects stabbed the victim before fleeing with an undisclosed sum of money.

The third robbery took place on October 29, when a group of men stole money from a man on Allen Street, and ran away.
