Amajuba’s Project Build a Classroom still needs your help

After Amajuba High School started its newest initiative: ‘Project Build a Classroom’ earlier this year, school principal, Justus Hartung is proud to announce the classrooms are about 90 percent complete.

Two of the classrooms have been painted, themed, and fitted with brand new aluminium windows.

“Hopefully all the windows will be installed over the next few weeks.”

The school is however, still in need of melamine board in order to build cupboards for the classrooms.

The school had been overwhelmed by sponsors who got on board, and contributed to the project.

Hartung thanked the Newcastle Lions Club for their very generous cash donation recently, and Vesco for donating 60 double desks, which would be used in the new classrooms.

“A local business also played their part in the project and donated a brand new microwave, which will be raffled in a lucky draw to raise funds next year.”

Hartung said the school recently hosted an event at the school, where they invited and thanked all the sponsors for their help with the project.

Aside from Project Build a Classroom, Hartung also hopes to erect a full size soccer field next year.

“We would like to promote the sport among our learners, and have already received a donation which will help level and flatten the ground where the field will be laid out.”

He said in order to complete the soccer field, the school was in need of storm water drain pipes and grass for the field.

They were also in need of a scraper and other necessary machinery to continue to level the surface on the field.
“Hopefully, if all goes well, the field could be operational early next year,” he said.

The school also still required various paint colours for the new play area.for the new play area, which will consist of cheerfully painted tyres, different shapes for hopscotch, and more.

Colours stil needed for the play area will consist of turquoise blue, royal blue, yellow, red, pink and green.

Hartung wished to once again thank everyone who had helped the school with its projects over the past few months, and who still continue to assist the school with projects such as these.
