READ NOW: Man dies in freak accident

Police were called to the hospital and a case of culpable homicide was opened for investigation.

A 74-year-old man died in a freak accident which occurred on the R34 Memel Road at around 3.30pm on September 3.

According to police reports, the man was a back-seat passenger in a bakkie, which was travelling behind a large truck when a stone was allegedly flung up by the truck’s wheels and shot through the bakkie’s windscreen, impacting the man on the head.

He was rushed to Newcastle Mediclinic where he later died as a result of his injury.

Police were called to the hospital and a case of culpable homicide was opened for investigation.

Ingogo Police are appealing to any eye witnesses to contact Investigating Officer, Sergeant S.S.D Mazibuko on 078 962 9382 if they have any additional information regarding the tragic incident.
