WATCH: Rearing the next generation of dancers

Aspiring dancers are led by Ryno van den Berg and Roshni Raghuber.

In the world of dancing, Ryno van den Berg has earned his stripes.

A multiple time South African champion and a notable name in the sport, this acclaimed dancer is helping Newcastillians put their best feet forward.

On Saturday, van den Berg hosted an open day for aspirant dancers.

With a strict ‘you attend, you participate’ policy, van den Berg took locals through the basics of two ballroom dancing styles, namely boogie woogie and slow foxtrot.

Some were skeptical at first.

However, van den Berg emphasised his perfect track record in teaching dance, and promised locals there was no one who couldn’t learn dancing basics.

His broader vision is to launch a dance academy.

Working alongside fellow dance instructors, Roshni and Nash Raghuber, for more than a year, van den Berg believes he can have Newcastillians eventually showcasing their dancing skills.

He has planned to host group classes over the next few months.

“Today is the introduction and by the end I will have you dancing!” he enthused.

For more details on the dance workshop or to arrange private classes, contact van den Berg on 079 188 5768 or Raghuber on 084 976 7464.
