#StrangeSaturday: Five strangest records ever awarded

Do you think you have what it takes to get in the Guinness Book of World Records?

Human beings are capable of remarkable feats. Yet, while there are those who strive to be the best, pushing themselves to the limits, there are those who break records in somewhat unconventional methods.

Here are five of the strangest record winners  published in the Guinness Book of Records.

1. Most straws stuffed in mouth

Simon Elmore obtained the record for having the most straws stuffed in his mouth. At the Mark ‘n’ Simon Show held in Sollhuben, Bavaria, Germany, Elmore held 400 straws in his mouth for 10 seconds, without the use of his hands.

2. Most apples held in mouth and cut by chainsaw in a minute

This daring award went to London-based performance artist Johnny Strange. Strange managed to secure his record by cutting eight apples with a chainsaw in one minute in October 2013 in South Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

The real question here is, why would anyone want to hold an apple with their mouth and attempt cutting it with a chainsaw?

3. Burning for a record

Austrian-born Josef Todtling is in the 2017 Guinness Book of Records. He secured his spot by having a running horse drag him for 500 metres, while his body was in flames.

Some people are just burning to get into the Guinness Book of Records.

4. Longest fingernails

Christine Walton from Las Vegas, USA, is the record holder for the Longest Fingernails. Her fingernails measure 309.8cm on her left hand and 292.1cm on her right hand. But why would anyone want such long fingernails?

5. Furthest eye pop

Kim Goodman from America landed herself with a record, by being able pop her eyeballs 12 mm beyond her eye sockets. Her eyes were measured in Istanbul, Turkey, in November 2007.
