Hockey tourney to determine the best side

St Dominic’s Newcastle is hosting its first Five-A-Side Business Hockey League soon.

Billed as an ideal networking and team building opportunity, the new tournament will consist of four Saturdays in August and September, to determine the best of the best.

The first three legs are in round robin format, with the final leg set as a play-off round.

Action gets underway on August 5 at the Alison Marillier AstroTurf (at St Dominic’s), and continues on August 19, September 2 and September 9.

On each tournament date, play commences at 5pm and ends at 9pm.

Teams are required to pay in R450 each, which covers each member’s match fees and administrative costs.

St Dominic’s has also appealed for a prize sponsor for the entire league.

The tournament will be played according to the International Hockey Federation (FIH) rules and standards on ‘Hockey5’.

These are available on the FIH webpage.

Teams should have a minimum of two women on the field during all matches, and a maximum of three club hockey players on the field at any given time.

Fixtures are to be distributed once entries are finalised.
