EXCLUSIVE: Comedian Tash takes a bash at bias

Durban-born comedian, Tash, is taking the comedy industry by storm with her sidesplitting jokes.

If laughter is the best medicine then Durban-born comedian, Tash is delivering it in large doses.

Tash has taken the comedy industry by storm with her sidesplitting jokes and off the bat sarcasm.

The comedian, made famous by her video posted on social media last year, entertained her fans in Newcastle last Saturday at the Style and Grace Wedding Conference Centre.

With her initial video gone viral, Tash said she was shocked at the response she received as a result.

Natashia Portrag, also known as Tash, performed at sold-out shows at Sibiya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom in Durban, among other established venues.

She has also provided Master of Ceremony services to many weddings since her claim to fame.

“I have always been an entertainer at functions and have been MC at many weddings and birthday celebrations,” she said.

Tash is not all jokes and play as she recently graduated with a Business Administration degree.

She said her main objective was to break norms of society through comedy.

In her videos, Tash talks about inter-racial marriages as well as how to cope with mother-in-laws among other controversial topics.

Her official page on Facebook, Have a Bash with Tash, has gained more than 33 000 likes in a short space of time.

“I did not think I would be a comedian and what a huge impact it would have.”

Tash said she enjoyed her shows and thanked her fans for their support.

“Without my fans I would not be a success,” she added.

On weekends, Tash dedicates her time to visiting temples and performing at corporate functions. She is also very much involved in charity.

She has recently secured a role in the South African production, Broken Promises, where she is set to star in the famous Indian series.

Apart from her bubbly personality and fame, Tash remains humble and believes in living a simple life.

Fans in Newcastle can anticipate another show from this self-proclaimed comedian in the near future.
