Madam – It is with great sorrow I am writing this letter.

Last week, a great soul was called to rest too early. Janneman van den Berg was well-known in Newcastle, and his passing was heartbreaking to those who knew and loved him. His story was one of courage and hope despite the odds he faced in his young life.

Janneman, as I knew him, was truly the life and soul of every party. Everywhere he went, he would arrive with a smile on his face, and leave with everyone he talked to smiling as well.

I cannot imagine what his family must be going through, but I do know they are not alone at this time.

The thoughts and prayers of everyone who knew Janneman will be their strength at this terrible time, and they can take comfort from knowing Janneman’s bravery has touched the community in ways they will never be able to comprehend.

He was a wonderful man, and a credit to his parents. Bebsie and Andre can be proud of the young man they raised, because his legacy will never be forgotten.

Friends arrived from all over the country to pay tribute to Janneman, and this says a lot about his character. He was loved by everyone and his fighting spirit has truly inspired those who are going through the same things in their lives.

Jan (Janneman) van den Berg.

They say that God calls his best souls home to rest, and Janneman can be at peace knowing how much love and joy he brought into this world. He is with our Lord now, safe and secure, and watching down on his loved ones.

We must treasure his memory, and live every day to the fullest, just like Janneman did.

Rus in vrede ou maat – you will always be in our hearts.
