The elaborate hoax continues.

An advertisement was posted on Newcastle Classifieds by Klein Canrunisburg on April 4, claiming 173 vacancies were available at DVD Venco, a company that had closed its doors. A fake Facebook account using a photograph of the previous DCD Venco General Manager in an attempt to defraud people, was discovered.

Application forms were allegedly submitted to people who reacted to the bogus advertisement.

Applicants have to disclose personal information and pay R650 for a medical fitness test into a bank account under the name of Dr B.S. Ndlovu, whereupon proof of payment must be submitted to an email address provided on the application form.

Newcastillians are cautioned neither to fill in the forms nor deposit any money into the said account.

On his Facebook account, the con artist also claimed to work for a company in Boksburg, which had no knowledge of him.

The police have been contacted for comment, but none was forthcoming at the time of going to print.
