#MotivationMonday: Become a better driver in five simple steps

When it comes to driving, one can never be too careful. Make sure you are always prepared for any situation while on the road.

Whether you drive a car, bakkie or motor bike, it is always important to keep on improving your driving skills.

Truth is, when you are behind the steering wheel, any bad situation can occur and catch you by surprise, whether it be a heavy thunderstorm, a collision or even a bad driver driving in front of you.

We have compiled five things every driver should know at all times before getting in their vehicle and travelling:

  1. Know your vehicle:

It is of utmost importance that a driver knows his or her vehicle from top to bottom. This means knowing your vehicles lateral stability, braking distance, handling of speed and even your engine. Know when to check your water and oil and even Tyre pressure. It is also important that you trust your vehicles performance before taking in out on the long road.

  1. Always be prepared for any situation:

Think of hypothetical scenarios which could occur while driving. Stage tose scenarios and then figure out how to get out of or avoid the scenario. Its important to always be prepared for any situation while driving, as it could just save your life in the case of dangerous obstacles on the road.

  1. Be vigilant at all times:

Always be vigilant of your surroundings. Check your mirrors every few minutes and make sure no one is following you. Also keep an eye out for bad drivers, bound to cause caos in the road. being vigilant is also a way of preparing your self for any obstacle which could occur while travelling.

  1. Think smart:

One can never be too careful, especially while driving; In other words, do not just think for yourself while driving, think for others to. If you see a negligent driver ahead of you, be focused enough to know how to avoid a collision or even possible road rage situation. Also make sure everyone inside the vehicle is wearing their safety belts at all times.

  1. Don’t speed

No matter how fast your car may be, it is never a good idea to speed. Rather stick to the legal speed limits. Not only will this guarantee that you will still be alive after your trip, but, it will also help you avoid getting into trouble with the law.

When it comes to driving, nothing is as simple as 1,2,3, but, a few easy tips, can be useful when the times comes.

Most importantly, always keep safe and keep left!
