MONEY MATTERS: How to set up a wedding budget

Planning a wedding on budget? We’ve got you covered! Overspending, under spending (as if); sticking to a wedding budget is no joke. Thanks to Google, and 1 000 other websites, it’s easy to make sure your money matters are in order for the big day.

A quick search of several ‘wedding budget’ sites brought me towww.lovecelebration.co.za. I must admit, I was a bit apprehensive at first. But, what the hell, right? Templates: Under the downloads section, I found several templates to make your life a million times easier. There are templates for the following: checklist, budget, table seating, as well as a list of suppliers, among others. Side note: I absolutely loved the monochromatic look of the site. When it comes to my money, floral prints and bright colours won’t make me feel any better about blowing it all! Get down to business: The template allows you to record the estimated and actual figures without having to whip out a calculator. This is a convenient first step to planning for your big day.Does it really work? I decided to set up a mock budget. This is in no way at all what I plan to spend on my own wedding, so if the figures look insane, don’t judge! If dropping R25 400 on apparel isn’t quite your cup of tea, you can easily adjust the values. The template is very user-friendly. A+! I’m impressed. My thoughts: If you’re anything like me, the thought of taking the first step to planning your wedding is daunting. Planning a budget is complicated, but with awesome tools (and a lot of wine), it should be a breeze.

I love the idea of simplifying just about everything for brides-to-be. A few clicks and you’re well on your way to wedding bliss! Regardless of the budget, a wedding is all about you and the love of your life. Whether you spend R5 000 or R50 000, if you love each more than anything, money won’t matter!
