SPORTS: Newcastle Legends bring soccer action home

With Newcastle Legends determined to secure a victory on home ground, the team is looking forward to the upcoming challenge.

Soccer enthusiasts have much to look forward to this month, with an Over 50s Soccer Tournament set to take place on September 16.

The tournament is set to take place at Fernwood Sports Grounds from 9am, where 11 teams from various parts of KwaZulu-Natal would compete for the top spot.

With Newcastle Legends determined to secure a victory on home ground, the team is looking forward to the upcoming challenge.

“Currently there is only one over-50 team in Newcastle and we have to travel out of town to play,” said Rammy Singh of Newcastle Legends.

Having criss-crossed KZN playing games, the Newcastle Legends have now brought the soccer action home.

“The last time we played in Newcastle was in September 2016,” he said.

Newcastillians are encouraged to support Newcastle Legends on the day of the tournament, by attending the matches.
