SPORTS: Community sporting for those in need

Entries into August's Impuphu soccer tournament are now open.

Devland Impuphu will host a Fun Walk and Soccer Tournament on August 19 and 20.

For a number of years, the company’s annual community drives have helped bring the business sector and community sphere together for a common goal.

This was achieved through various sports and social events.

By bringing residents together, Devland Impuphu has rallied people together to fight against societal injustices, to support the needy and to take a stand against societal vices.

The upcoming tournament at the Paradise Grounds is no different.

Speaking on behalf of the company, Talha Randeree, Marketing Director of Ripplestream Media and Marketing, explained the event would centre on raising awareness against substance abuse, and facilitate a community drive to help the needy.

“This year, a special call has been made to both adults and under-12s to participate in the seven-a-side soccer tournament. It will be the ideal testing ground for fathers to show off their skills, while seeing how far the apple really fell from the tree.”

The two-day event boasts an action-packed program, various prizes up for grabs and a host of food stalls to satisfy any appetite.

Prizes for the event are worth approximately R12 000.

Entry into the walk is R5, and tickets can be purchased from Devland Impuphu Wholesalers, Mi-Ka Fruit and Veg, Khan’s Butchery and Rubeena Jadwat Optometrist.
