Resident Evil 2 remake delayed to 2018: Tech Tuesday

An HD remake of Resident Evil 2 will only come in 2018.

Gamers want what gamers want.

For Resident Evil players, it’s a remake of ALL the original titles.

The 1998 game was a masterwork of survival horror and saw immediate success.

Difficult controls, a claustrophobic setting and limited resources made RE a cult classic.

Capcom followed this up with numerous titles since.

Resident Evil 2 followed Claire Redfield and Leon Scott Kennedy – arguably the series’ most popular characters.

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis pitted Jill Valentine against the persistently horrific Nemesis.

While later titles have moved more toward action horror, the series’ legacy is well-earned.

It all started with a remaster and then a remake of the original game.

Then Code: Veronica received a HD remastered version.

However, fans clamouring for the same treatment for RE2 and RE3 remain disappointed.

And now, fans will still have to wait longer for these remakes.

Hopes for RE2 to be remade this year have been unequivocally dashed.

Capcom confirmed recently this will only come sometime in 2018.

It was likely planned this way to coincide with the release date of the original Resident Evil 20 years ago.

More bad news is that the original voice actors from the second game will not be included.

This is reportedly due to Capcom going ‘non-union’ with its voice cast.

There’s also no word on if we’ll ever enjoy a remake of Jill’s story in Nemesis.
