UPDATE: Malema’s postponement of land invasion application filed successfully

EFF leader, Julius Malema's application for postponement was received this morning.

Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF), Julius Malema‘s trial postponement at the Newcastle Regional Court resumed this morning.

The EFF leader made a quick appearance before the matter was postponed initially on Tuesday, July 4.

The postponement comes after Malema’s lawyer, Tumi Mokoena was ordered to file official documents today.

The case will now be heard on September 1.

Malema is facing charges of contravening the 1956 Riotous Assemblies Act.

He has also since been charged under common law for the same matter.

In June 2016, Malema reportedly urged local supporters to invade unoccupied land.

He was charged again when he appeared in court in November last year where he reiterated calls for the illegal occupation of land.
