ADVERTORIAL: Canned Culture and Financial Chef

Communication and financial duo, Anel and Jacques du Preez with little Xian.

For your communication and financial needs, the du Preez family has you covered.

Jacques, Anel and six-month-old Xian recently moved to Newcastle, and promise to become assets to the Newcastle community.

Anel grew up in Utrecht and completed her schooling at Pionier High School in Vryheid, while Jacques is from Swartklip in the North West.

The couple met in Pretoria and are married for five years.

“We moved to be closer to family and to give Xian the chance to grow up in the countryside. Other benefits are that we will know our neighbours; Anel loves greeting people as she passes them and I love not being stuck in traffic for hours on end.”

The couple have brought with them two important sectors of successful business: communication and finance.

Anel heads Canned Culture or Geblikte Kultuur. She has a Degree in Business Communication and is currently pursuing an Honours Degree in Marketing at IMM Graduate School. She loves being a catalyst for social change and is entrepreneurial at heart.

“We use research to identify a business’s issues, create a strategy to address those, implement communication actions according to the client’s budget and ensure monitoring and evaluation measures the success.”

The name Canned Culture is significant – canned means something is preserved, protected and remains sweet when opened.

Culture is a way of life or behaviour; part of one’s identity. Similarly, Canned Culture Communication will endeavour to preserve a business’s way of life as part of its unique identity.

“Our process ensures clients reach their business goals and have a positive effect on communities within South Africa.”

Canned Culture offers these Corporate Communication services:

Customer and community research, communication strategies, brand architecture, digital and print advertising, social media marketing, photography and videography, reviewer and testimonial outreach, reputation building, establishing of various relations, special event and promotions, training and speaking engagements, website development, graphic design and business concept development.

It’s from this point where Canned Culture breaks from the norm.

Anel has found her niche in development communications, effectively creating a dialogue and bringing business and community together. The key is identifying risks and opportunities between these two and solving it sustainably.

Anel explained creating a route to the markets was about breeding optimism and this tied deeply into her belief in social entrepreneurship.

“As a social entrepreneur, I believe there are significant untapped business resources and human potential in South Africa. Through my work, I wish to actively play a role in harnessing and developing existing and latent small business skills, talent and expertise.”

On the opposite side, Jacques is registered with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and is an Associate General Accountant of South Africa. He is also registered as a tax practitioner with SA Revenue Services (SARS). Jacques has a BCompt Degree in Accounting Sciences and boasts over a decade of experience with micro, small and medium businesses. “I run my practice through a personal liability company, founded in 2016 and marketed as Financial Chef.”

Jacques adopted his core value of life to form Financial Chef’s value statement of accountability, integrity, transparency, professionalism, diligence, dedication and respect.

Financial Chef offers the following services:

Bookkeeping to trial balance, independent review and compilation of annual financial statements, processing of payrolls, maintenance of leave records, employment contracts, registration of new companies and trusts, statutory document retention, tax planning, statutory returns, tax registration, BEE and tax clearance certificates, operational and financial management reports, cash flow assumptions and projections, internal control review and implementation, plus business advice and strategy. Financial Chef operates Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 5pm.

“Financial Chef offers a unique feature which enables us to communicate with you frequently, not just once a year when tax season opens.”

Secure online storage facilities allow clients to access information safely at any time, and ensure sensitive information such as deeds and wills are only accessible to the owner. Financial Chef prides itself on simple, accessible and functional organising of information.

“We have made it our mission to keep you informed at all times, educate you over time and introduce systematic changes to improve your financial affairs.”
