TARGETED: Burglaries on the rise in the Newcastle area

AMAJUBA PARK  – Police have confirmed a significant increase in burglaries in Barry Hertzog Park, Amajuba Park and Fairleigh.

Police Communication, Liaison and Marketing Spokesperson, Lizzy Arumugam, said the burglaries usually took place between midnight and 5am.

“There have been six reported cases so far and police are now patrolling the areas,” she said.

As a proactive measure, police will call meetings with the relevant residents, Community Policing Forum and security companies. Times and places are still to be confirmed.

Ms Arumugam appeals to the community to forward information to the police, which can help to minimise crime.
