Just In: Truck goes airborne on N11 at Ingogo

The truck stands where it landed, after being airborne.

INGOGO – A truck carrying a 56-tonne piece of mining machinery veered off the N11 near Ingogo on Wednesday (May 17), after the brakes allegedly failed.

According to sources at the scene, the truck driver lost control and swerved to avoid other vehicles, before hitting an embankment and going airborne for about 500 meters.

The driver was fortunate to have only sustained a few cuts and bruises.

He was transported to hospital for further treatment, while emergency and towing services and other heavy trucks attempt to clear the scene and ensure the mining machinery reaches its destination.

The collision is now under investigation by the relevant authorities.
