MUST READ: Jaws of Life used to rescue multiple casualties in another collision

A mini bus taxi and a bakkie collided at Keyway Motors, injuring numerous passengers.

MADADENI – Multiple people were injured when a mini bus taxi collided with a bakkie near Keyway Motors in Madadeni, this afternoon (May 18).

Four emergency services arrived on the scene to attend to the casualties.

“The Jaws of Life was to used to access patients in the taxi. The patients were then extricated,” said Sister Reshma Samlal of TRIVS Medical Services.

The injured were treated on the scene before being taken to various hospitals in Newcastle.

At this stage it is unclear exactly how many people were involved.

The cause of the collision is unknown and police investigations continue.
