Teachers receive recognition in the Masakhane Awards

NEWCASTLE CBD – Teachers came together to receive recognition at the annual Masakhane Circuit Awards, which was held at Tugela High School on May 12.

Teachers and Directors from the Masakhane Circuit were rewarded for their dedication and hard work in the teaching industry, and were praised for the matric passing rates of 2016.

Both primary and high school teachers were received recognition as a vote of thanks by Ward councillor, Mr RB. Ncgobo.

The event was opened with prayer, and various speeches were given by directors of the education departments.

Principal of Newcastle High School and Awards chairperson, Manny Govender thanked the guests for their attendance and welcomed special guests of honour.

“Dear Teacher, to the world you are just a teacher, but to your learners, you are a hero.”
