Voice of the people: Fuel price increases

Grant Smit: "Rising petrol prices do not only affect motorists, but businesses too. People now have less money to spend elsewhere and are required to budget accordingly."

According to the Automobile Association of South Africa, the weak Rand partially contributed to the fuel price increases.

Motorists are expected to fork out 55 cents more for a litre of petrol, while the price of diesel could increase with 39 cents.

Experts said the exchange rate of the Rand against the US dollar is a major factor in the increases.
