GALLERY: SACTWU members celebrate Worker’s Day in Newcastle CBD

South African Clothing and Textile Union (SACTWU) members march in the CBD, in celebration of National Worker's Day.

Members of the South African Clothing and Textile Worker’s Union (SACTWU) commemorated National Worker’s Day by marching through Allen Street on May 1.

A sea of red t-shirts flooded Allen Street from about 11am on the public holiday, as SACTWU demonstrators made their way through to Trim Park Grounds.

National leaders were also present at the march and addressed the crowd.

Police, Emergency and Protection Services and Traffic Officials ensured a peaceful march.
