BARRY HERTZOG PARK – Competition at the Newcastle Town Club Sponsored Competition was almost too close to call.

Played in the better ball format, the first and third positions both came down to the count-out.

By this measure, Lucas Oosthuizen and Renier Terblanche ended in first position on 49 points, with Dries Els and Sarel Nienaber in second.

Elred and Jenny Darvall finished third on 48 points.

Tony Sharp and Matthew Hackett were relegated to fourth after the count-out, with Tinkie van den Heever and Carel le Roux in fifth on 47 points.
