VIP treatment for Winter Festival

The annual fireworks display at the Newcastle Vodacom Winter Festival had people looking up to the heavens.

There’s a bit of everything at this year’s Vesco Newcastle Winter Festival.

From braaivleis to obstacle courses to concert tickets, organisers of the Winter Festival are pulling out all the stops to bring entertainment to the masses.

For Justin Bieber fans, there’s some awesome news.

If you take a selfie with the Vesco Newcastle Winter Festival Mascot and upload it to the Winter Festival website, you stand a chance of winning two tickets daily to the Biebs’s concert in Joburg in May.

Make sure you are there to collect your tickets at the main stage, or forfeit the prize.

The festival vibe will be built through with the Vesco Newcastle Winter Festival Golf Day this Saturday at Kilbarchan Golf Club.

Format of play is a better ball scramble drive.

Green fees are R150 per player, which includes a meal from the halfway house – entries are limited to just 80 in total.

An exciting addition to the Winter Festival itself, is the Gajiga Run.

Described as a ‘crazy, awesome, fresh, fun-filled family five-kilometre fun run’, the run boasts seven massive inflatable obstacles.

There’s no mud and no super-strength required – just spirit!

The Winter Festival committee invites children, adults, families, the young at heart and the weekend runners to enter at https://www.gajiga.co.za/newcastle.

Not the sporty type – here’s more for you:

Perhaps the tastiest titbit from the Winter Festival committee is news of a new Braai Master competition, featuring guest judges from Durban.

If you are the master of flame and meat, this competition is for you.

Contestants must be over the age of 18, and are responsible for their own braai stand or Weber, ingredients, crockery, cutlery, gazebo, umbrella and fire-making kit.

Entry is R600 per team, and is payable on or before April 17.

This year, the Winter Festival is offering a luxury treatment for business people and valued clients, with a special VIP tent each day.

The tent will cater for 10 people, including snacks and a free round of drinks.

From inside the tent, clients can watch the day’s main stage event in comfort, with a number of beverages on sale.

Contact Johan (082 734 6409) for bookings.

Stall spots are still available for this year’s Winter Festival, which can be booked out by contacting Lettie (071 445 7017).
