Anglers bank on overnight fish-off

The APL wishes its anglers tight lines this festive season.

If you’re into fishy business, prize money might be headed your way.

Endumeni Angling Club (EAC) is hosting its debut open overnight bank angling competition on April 1 and 2, at the Chelmsford/ Ntshingwayo Dam.

The total prize value of this competition is over R70 000.

Anglers will compete for the grand prize of R20 000 in cash for the biggest scaled fish, and R10 000 for the biggest non-scaled fish.

Cash prizes alone are over R50 000.

There’s twice the chance of winning with this competition too – a skins competition will see lucky anglers walk away with cash prizes for catches within the three-hour time limit.

There are numerous other prizes.

Raffle tickets are on sale, where the winner brings home a 55-inch full high definition smart television, valued at about R10 000.

Tickets can be bought from any EAC member or at the competition.

EAC representatives explained the competition was to: “Promote the club as well as to raise funds to finance operations during the season.”

The competition commences at 8am on April 1; the main gates open at 6am and the weigh-in closes at 10am on April 2.

Ticket costs R200 per person, excluding gate and overnight fees.

Newcastillians can purchase tickets from Midas, or alternatively contact Shabir on 079 500 0482 or Naushaad (Dannhauser) on 074 882 8871.
