#WorldReadAloudDay: Letting the reading begin

Get your reading glasses out and participate in World Read Aloud Day.

NEWCASTLE – While lovebirds see February as the month of love, focusing on Valentine’s Day and romantic gifts, many have forgotten there was another magical day this month.

February 16 is World Read Aloud Day, a day which offers people the chance to escape to far off lands, meet mystical beings and witness heroic deeds, all without needing to leave the comfort of your favourite couch.

The purpose of World Read Aloud Day is to motivate both young and old to celebrate the power of words and literature, in the hopes of creating a world of readers. A world where everyone has the right to be literate and have access to the knowledge that is hidden in books.

As World Read Aloud Day is celebrated by millions of people around the world, Newcastillians have the opportunity to participate in the day’s events by visiting World Read Aloud Day – LitWorld’s webpage and downloading an activity pack for you to enjoy either by yourself or with your friends.

To visit World Read Aloud Day – LitWorld’s webpage, visit http://www.litworld.org/wrad/ and let the fun begin.
